I personally love the beach and the ocean. However it never ceases to amaze me when families turn up at the beach with children how they argue within seconds of arriving.
Children get so excited when they know they are going to the beach, however once they get there all they want to do is run into the water and start having fun. Parents/Grandparents immediately stop this spontanos wonderful fun by trying to get sun tan lotion onto the child who is now protesting loudly. The child is screaming, throwing a tantrum distrupting everyone around them. The parents now feeling embarrassed discipline the child, threaten to go home and everyone is now not having a good time.
If you are going to take your child to the beach, a park or anywhere else here are a few tips to help have a wonderful time that everyone is expecting.
- Set expectations, boundaries and limitations
- Put sunscreen on before you leave
- Look at the day from a child’s point of view
- Bring out the child in you
The beach and water are most children’s dream and if you plan it correctly everyone will have an amazing time.
